Daily Sports Recap

Monday’s Sports Recap

November 1: Detroit ends Minnesota’s unbeaten start, Buffalo wins after Baltimore’s quarterback injuries, and all 18 NFL, NBA and men’s college games are final.

Covered action date: Sunday, November 1, 2026, Eastern Time. All 18 scheduled games in the five covered sports are final: 12 NFL, four NBA and two NCAA men’s basketball games. Late finishes remain attached to their scheduled Eastern action date. This is a sports-results recap, not ISR’s paid-pick performance.

NFL — 12 finals

  • Buffalo beat Baltimore 36–10. Josh Allen threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns. Baltimore lost Lamar Jackson to a thumb injury on its first offensive play and Tyler Huntley to a toe injury in the second quarter; Joe Fagnano finished the game. Coach Jesse Minter said Jackson would need surgery and go on injured reserve, with the longer-term outcome not settled.
  • Detroit beat Minnesota 19–15, handing the Vikings their first loss. Jahmyr Gibbs rushed 23 times for 153 yards and a touchdown. Minnesota’s Kyler Murray passed for 210 yards and two touchdowns.
  • Denver beat Kansas City 28–24. Bo Nix threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns; Patrick Mahomes had 321 yards and three touchdown passes in defeat.
  • Washington beat Philadelphia 27–10. Jayden Daniels threw for 217 yards and a touchdown, while Rachaad White contributed a rushing score. Tanner McKee completed 23 of 34 passes for 212 yards and an interception.

ISR analysis: Baltimore’s quarterback sequence changed the game’s personnel almost immediately. Preserve that context before using the final to evaluate either offense or defense. Detroit’s result and Denver’s win also show why passing totals and the final result must be reviewed separately.

NBA — four finals

  • Boston won 108–97 at Orlando. Jayson Tatum scored 32 and Paul George had eight assists. Orlando’s Tristan da Silva recorded 23 points and ten rebounds.
  • Brooklyn won 98–90 at Indiana. Michael Porter Jr. scored 23, and Day’Ron Sharpe collected 13 rebounds. Andrew Nembhard scored 23 for the Pacers.
  • Golden State beat the Clippers 124–112. Yaxel Lendeborg scored 37; Brandin Podziemski had eight assists. Rui Hachimura led the Clippers with 24 points.
  • The Lakers beat Toronto 131–125. Luka Dončić finished with 45 points, 15 rebounds and six assists. Scottie Barnes scored 29 for Toronto.

ISR analysis: Boston and Brooklyn won with substantially different scoring environments from the Lakers’ game. Keep the pace, available lineups and sources of efficient possessions beside the totals before drawing a next-game conclusion.

NCAA men’s basketball — two finals

Matchup / box scoreAway–homeStatus
Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Villanova Wildcats74–72Final
Liberty Flames at High Point Panthers57–72Final
  • Notre Dame beat Villanova 74–72 in Rome. Brady Koehler and Braeden Smith scored 16 apiece. Logan Duncomb’s late three-pointer gave Notre Dame a 70–68 lead; Villanova’s Tyler Perkins scored 18 before fouling out.
  • High Point beat Liberty 72–57. Curtis Williams Jr. led High Point with 12 points, and Cam’Ron Fletcher had seven rebounds. Liberty’s Zander Carter scored 21 and collected six rebounds.

ISR analysis: The opening results provide actual competitive possessions, but still only one game per team. Keep the individual contributions and late-game sequence without turning the first result into a settled season-long identity.

No-game status

NCAA Football FBS: No November 1 games listed. MLB: No November 1 games listed. Both checks use the Eastern action date.

Betting notebook — retained, identified source lines

These comparisons use DraftKings prices displayed by ESPN in ISR’s November 1 previews, checked at 7:40 a.m. EST. They are morning snapshots, not universal closing lines or claims about subsequent market movement.

  • Buffalo covered -3.5; 46 points finished under 54.5.
  • Detroit covered -3; 34 points finished under 46.5.
  • Denver covered +1.5; 52 points finished over 40.5.

4 STAR★★★★
NFL

Jacksonville -2.5 over New England (NFL)

Playable range: -1 to -4.5

Why we like this pick

I like Jacksonville’s opportunity to turn New England’s early ball-security problems into an advantage at home. Drake Maye entered this game with four interceptions through two weeks, while the Jaguars had already produced three takeaways. That creates a path to shorter fields if Jacksonville’s front can apply pressure. On offense, Trevor Lawrence has capable options in Parker Washington and Jakobi Meyers, but protection against New England’s strong defensive front is essential. The Patriots are disciplined enough to keep this competitive; I’m backing Jacksonville to make the more decisive plays and cover a manageable home spread.

3 STAR★★★
NFL

Washington +8 over Seattle (NFL)

Playable range: +10 to +6

Why we like this pick

I like Washington getting more than a touchdown at home. Losing Jayden Daniels matters, but Marcus Mariota is an experienced replacement who played well in relief the previous week and is willing to challenge defenses downfield. Seattle is missing both starting safeties, Julian Love and Ty Okada, which creates an opportunity for Washington to find enough scoring plays to stay close. The Seahawks had converted only three of seven red-zone trips into touchdowns through two games. Washington’s own injuries and Seattle’s strong defense are concerns, but this number gives the Commanders room to cover without winning outright.

3 STAR★★★
NFL

Detroit -6.5 over N.Y. Jets (NFL)

Playable range: -5 to -8.5

Why we like this pick

I’m backing Detroit’s offensive balance at Ford Field, particularly with Blake Miller and Christian Mahogany trending toward a return to the line. Their presence would help the Lions establish the run and avoid obvious passing situations against a Jets defense that entered the game ranked first overall. Amon-Ra St. Brown’s strong start gives Jared Goff a dependable target to keep drives moving. The concern is Detroit’s defense, which had allowed too many explosive plays through two weeks. This pick depends on cleaner defensive execution and Detroit sustaining drives well enough to build a clear winning margin.
